Library 3.0.0 — October 2026

The JavaScript library and the online generator now use the add-on's own encoder.

QR codes are drawn locally. Versions 2.x used quickchart.io (and 1.x Google Charts), so the text went to a third party.
New API: render, toSVG, toDataURL, matrix, download, payload.* and data-qrcode attributes; works in Node.
Styles, gradients, logo, caption. The old qrgchart functions still work.

Rewritten from scratch (Manifest V3), desktop and Android.

QR codes are generated and read inside the browser. Version 1.6 sent the text to an external service (quickchart.io): that is gone.
